hitney Welsh brings nearly two decades of courtroom experience, courage, and compassion to her work as a trial lawyer at Hepworth Holzer. A fearless advocate with a deep sense of justice, Whitney has built her career around standing up for people who’ve been wronged and making sure every voice is heard. Warm, approachable, and deeply committed to our clients, Whitney speaks Spanish and believes that, no matter what language you are using, clear communication and genuine care are the heart of effective representation
Whitney’s journey began in Whitefish, Montana, where she was raised in a family devoted to community service. Her father ran the local hardware store and served in public office, while her mother taught high-school math — modeling the integrity and work ethic that would guide Whitney throughout her life. That foundation of service led her to the University of Montana. A proud Grizzly she earned a degree in English Literature and Political Science. At the same time she had countless adventures guiding whitewater rafting trips on the wild rivers near Glacier National Park.
After college, Whitney followed her sense of purpose across borders and communities — teaching English in Costa Rica, leading volunteer projects in Nicaragua, and working with AmeriCorps and Habitat for Humanity to build homes and hope. Those experiences taught her the power of empathy and persistence, qualities that would later define her trial skills.
Whitney returned to earn her J.D., with honors, from the University of Montana School of Law, where she received the award for Best Appellate Brief and represented her school at the National Moot Court Competition in New York City. After clerking for the Montana Supreme Court, she moved to Boise and joined the Ada County Prosecutor’s Office. She spent the next nineteen years litigating serious felony and domestic-violence cases.
Known for her fearlessness in trial and her meticulous preparation, Whitney has tried dozens of jury cases and supervised a felony trial team. Her work earned her the Idaho State Bar’s Denise O’Donnell-Day Pro Bono Award in recognition of her dedication to justice. Beyond the courtroom, she trained law enforcement, mentored young attorneys, and became a trusted leader within the office.
Now, Whitney brings that same passion for advocacy to the clients of Hepworth Holzer. Transitioning from criminal prosecution to personal-injury law is the natural evolution of her lifelong mission of protecting those who have been harmed and holding wrongdoers accountable. Whether she’s representing a survivor of violence or a victim of negligence, Whitney’s focus remains the same: fighting for fairness, restoring dignity, and helping people rebuild their lives.
Outside the office, she and her family of four are avid mountain bikers and snow sport enthusiasts. Whitney has served as a coach for the Boise Brave NICA mountain bike team and also served on the Board of Directors for three years as among other things the Student Leadership liaison. She is also a certified yoga instructor. These pursuits keep her grounded and remind her of the values she fights for every day.
