Trust worthy, honest, efficient, and effective – all words that describe John Edwards and his staff! Working with the team at Hepworth Holzer helped me focus on getting well and not on the financial worries of my situation.

Kathy Crowley

John Edwards and his staff are excellent. They took the time to explain the process completely and worked hard to ensure I would get the most out of my settlement. John is a very caring lawyer who cares more about his cleint then the possible gain from the end results. He was able to work with my insurance company to lower their reimbursement to the lowest possible amount and even ensured I would be taken care of with furture clains by waiving co-pays for my shoulder and neck injury.

Lee Morris

Mr Holzer has an above-and-beyond, do the right thing approach to life. He is caring and thorough. I’m grateful to know him and have his assistance!

Sarah Brown

Charlie Hepworth provided excellent legal services to my husband and I. In 2015, I was struck by a semi-truck on the connector and spent five weeks in the hospital. Charlie was referred to us by a friend and we were so fortunate to have him on board. He was compassionate, knowledgeable, highly experienced, and guided us every step of the way. We are pleased with the outcome and having Charlie on our team certainly made the long process of recovery a bit easier.

Guy H.

I am writing specifically about John Kluksdal. The work that he did for me was nothing but amazing. When it was time to go into my settlement hearing, he worked extremely hard and was able to get a justifiable settlement. He’s great!

Spinal Cord Injuries

When there are accidents that leave people with head, neck or back injuries, it’s very important that doctors check for spinal cord injuries. Some spinal cord injuries where the victim survives can leave them in permanent pain and suffering.

Your spinal cord is in your body to send messages from the brain into your nerves throughout the body. It is a fairly protected area in your body, so anyone who suffers from spinal cord injuries must have been in a pretty traumatic event.

Do You Need Legal Help?

Often, when there is a spinal cord injury, there will also be broken vertebrae or dislocated discs in the spine. This type of damage can be irreparable.

Spinal cord injury victims may have to deal with the following symptoms:

    • Paralysis
    • Tingling or numbness in their limbs
    • Persistent and constant pain
    • The loss of bodily functions
    • Being permanently disabled

If you have been seriously hurt and have spinal cord damage, it is so important to call and set up a free consultation with our Boise spinal cord injury attorneys. We can help you get the help you need and start building a strong case for you right away to get you full results.

Our Boise spinal cord injury attorneys have handled numerous cases just like yours and we strive to help injured victims in our community. You get to sit down and go over the details of your case during a free initial consultation with a personal injury attorney who has given other victims justice. If the insurance company of the liable party does not come to us with a fair result, we will keep fighting until you get it. If that means we go to trial to get justice, we will do that for you. Most cases come to a settlement before they go to trial, but we prepare your case with the belief that we need to be ready to go, if it comes to that.

    Types of Spinal Cord Injuries

There are two types of spinal cord injuries: incomplete and complete. If the spinal cord completely severs, it results in loss of both mobility and sensation in all areas below the injury. With incomplete injuries, the spinal cord partially severs.

Incomplete spinal cord injuries are broken down into further categories:

    • Anterior Cord Syndrome: Cuts off the primary blood supply to the spinal cord, leading to a loss of sensation and mobility.
    • Central Cord Syndrome: Results in lost sensation and mobility in the hands and arms.
    • Brown-Sèquard Syndrome: Occurs when either the right or left side of the spinal cord suffers trauma. It usually results in loss of sensation and mobility on the injured side and an inability to feel temperature changes and pain on the uninjured side.

The Importance of Seeking Medical Attention

Your health is the most important thing. You should not hesitate to get yourself in front of a doctor. Odds are your accident left you in immense pain, if you suffered a spinal cord injury. This is likely not something you can ignore and by no means should you try.

Going to the emergency room or even an urgent care facility is a good first move.

From there, you need to follow the advice of your doctors. If they set you up with physical therapy, want you to get certain treatments, avoid certain activities, etc., you need to be prudent and follow their advice.

If, for instance, you did not get medical attention right away and wait a few weeks somehow, the insurance company is going to look at that behavior and claim you lied about your injuries or where you got them from, which means your case might get thrown out. They don’t care that you pushed through the pain to be there for your family or couldn’t get the time off work. You need to prioritize your health.

If you don’t follow your doctor’s advice, you risk ruining your wellbeing and your case. If the doctor tells you not to lift anything more than 15 pounds but you’re lugging around your kid’s hockey bag, that is not going to help you heal. Also, the insurance companies may be looking to hire private investigators to see if plaintiffs are disobeying orders like that from their doctor because it gives the insurance company a reason to try to throw away your case.

“During one of the most difficult times my family has ever gone through, the firm of Hepworth Holzer was our saving grace. Kurt Holzer, John Kluksdahl, and the rest of the firm worked tirelessly to get justice for our mother who was needlessly killed as a result of a drunken driving crash involving a negligent company. They not only secured an unprecedented settlement for my sisters and I, but also supported us during the criminal trial. I could not recommend this firm more!”
